Skills for the Future
“Skills for the Future” is a project promoted and realized with the European Commission’s contribute, within the Erasmus Program – Lifelong Learning Program. SKIFF is born with the purpose to improve the match between the contents offered by the higher training world and the business needs, to organize formative programs fit for fully answer to the European labour market expectations.
The project takes place in four countries simultaneously: Italy, Poland, Portugal and Turkey.
The project coordinator is a body which is the expression of the Warsaw Chamber of Commerce (Instytut Badan nad Demokracja i Przedsiebiorstwem Prywatnym); the Portuguese partner is a business consulting body whose office is in Lisbon (Gestão Total e Inovação Empresarial – GTIE Consultores S.A.); the Turkish partner is a University (AHI EVRAN ÜNIVERSITESI); the Italian share of the project is managed by E.Ri.FO – Ente per la RIcerca e Formazione -Research and Training.

The needs from which arises this project:
To offer theright combination of competencies is essential to avoid tounder-utilize the talent and the potential of people.
To reach thisgoal it is necessary a better cooperation between the world of workand the world of education and training, as well as a greatertransparency on the labor market.
To fill the skills gap for the jobsof the future and to make our training systems more receptive to thefuture needs of our economy it is necessary to promote new highereducation specializations in order to increase the competitiveness ofEuropean industry.
For this reason, the project Skills for the Future, with the contribution of the European Commission, within the framework of the Erasmus Program- Lifelong Learning Program, it has created an application which has as objective to improve the correspondence between the educational offer of universities and the business needs. The purpose of Skiff project is to support universities – thanks to an open source application – in order to collect the new needs of firms and to transfer them in training courses and to meet the new expectations of the European labor market.
The software is shared thanks to Google docs.
To use thesoftware you need a Gmail account. By sending an email to it will be possible to share the software package andthe instructions for its usage. In addition to the software, they arealso available national surveys on the needs of new skills reportedby companies.
The entire kitSKIFF represents an instrument at the service of universities andbusinesses to make the higher education more responding to the newjobs and to the skills required by European market.
The packageconsists of 3 instruments of investigation, which may be published from each University and of useful research reports on skillsconsidered as relevant from the world of work in Europe. Each surveyis connected to a spreadsheet, which allows the University to collectdata and process them automatically. Everything is made by using thepotential of an open source: Google docs. Each product can be freelymodified and customized by organizations wishing to enjoy its potential.

The purpose of this survey is to quantify the main needs of enterprises with respect to the training of new recruits. In particular, the survey instrument analyzes the behavioral competencies required from new graduates, competencies that universities and training institutions should take into account in the development of their own educational paths.
EVALUATION COURSE FORM
Thanks to this tool the universities may test the satisfaction of their own students at the end of the course of study. The results will provide important information to identify corrective actions and improvement of educational offer.
BUSINESS-UNIVERSITIES COOPERATION SURVEY
Thanks to this tool universities can ask to firms which forms of cooperation are considered to be most useful to consolidate the virtuous circle between the world of research – university and the productive world.

Finally, the package contains a survey conducted in four countries (Italy, Poland, Portugal, and Turkey) on expectations of entrepreneurs with respect to the competencies to be strengthened in degree courses.
